Overzealous: Walmart Fires Security Guard For Chasing After Shoplifter Like He's In A Cop Movie

OK. Is he an admirable hero who just took an armed thief off the street?

Or is he the dumbest guy on earth?

I am leaning toward the latter.

He does not have powers of arrest, is unarmed and getting paid way too little to go playing Rambo.

Most, if not all, retailers have rules against chasing shoplifters. And for good reason. A person who has just shoplifted is feeling an adrenaline rush that can push them to do extraordinary things.

Things like run really fast, fight or even pull a weapon. If any of these things happen, not only is the employee in danger, but imagine a store parking lot or an interior mall entrance. Yikes!

So, not only did this guy allow his ego to get the best of him, he is now unemployed and non-rehirable by the biggest retailer of them all. Oh, and let's not forget his story is viral.
